Our goal is to create a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all DC480 members.
The culture of DC480 is at the heart of everything that we do. We work hard to ensure that we live up to our values and create a welcoming and engaging evironment for every DC480 member.
Much of this page is inspired by http://citizencodeofconduct.org/ and https://www.oreilly.com/conferences/code-of-conduct.html, with some modifications.
Trust We follow the TLP and share information accordingly.
- Curiosity We believe nothing is beyond question, all assumptions may be examined.
- Respect We treat each other as humans, give the benefit of the doubt, and assume best intentions.
- Resilience We may encounter things that make us uncomfortable and challenge our beliefs, but we engage these ideas productively.
- Reciprocity We give when we can and contribute to one another when given the opportunity.
Closed/Invite Only Group
DC480 is a closed, invite only group. Any active DC480 member can invite others after they have attended their first meeting. If you would like to attend, but don’t know anyone in 480, reach out to us via Twitter.
We decided on this format to encourage people to speak openly. Nothing leaves the room at DC480, unless the person says it is ok. This is similar to BSides Underground and Skytalks formats.
We request members of the press/media refrain from attending DC480 meetings. If you decide to attend, all communication is off the record.
DC480 is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.
Harassment includes violence, threats of violence or violent language, posting or displaying sexually explicit or violent material, offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, deliberate intimidation or silencing, stalking, following, all (unless explicitly approved) photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, doxing, and unwelcome sexual attention.
This code of conduct applies to all DC480 spaces both online and off. Anyone who violates this code of conduct may be sanctioned or expelled from these spaces at the discretion of dc480 leadership.
Members asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the leadership team immediately.
If requested, we will help members contact local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.
Please contact a member of the leadership team at a meeting or reach out to us on Twitter.
